Sam’s BIG News

It is official now. Sam is getting married. The date is set for February 16th.

He is getting married to his best friend, Jenna. She is great. She has been popping in and out of our lives for the last 6 years. First in Orkney, Texas and then in Hungary and Romania. It is great because she already feels like part of our eclectic little family.

I would worry a bit about some of Sam’s previous girlfriends that they would be expecting him to “grow up” and become materialistic and normal. I would even picture the pain as they would realize that Sam would become more and more eccentric instead of normal. I have an active imagination.

Jenna is Sam’s other half, already. They live big. They dream of adventures, both near and far. They dive into life without reservation. They walk on a “charmed path” where doors fling wide open to experience the technicolour life.

Did I hear you ask for an example?

They were up in Auckland visiting our relations and Genevieve Knight walks in. They  talk. They find out Genevieve has written a book on pavlova. Genevieve finds out that Jenna has never had pavlova. After a short trip to the shop Jenna tastes her first pavlova from the woman who wrote the book.

When people look in from the outside they seem to think, “Why are things so easy for them?” Actually, I know that they have both had pain in their past but they have both chosen to overcome, grow and LIVE! They are resilient optimists to the core of their being.

We couldn’t be happier. Welcome to our family, Jenna!!!

We are excited about Sam and Jenna and can hardly wait to see how the Lord will get us to NZ for the wedding. We have heard so much about you from Jenna that we feel like we have already met. Since Jenna was born, we have prayed for the mate that God has for her and find it ironic that she is marrying her best friend after they have both dated others. The peace that we have is like no other because it would take someone incredibly special to compliment Jenna’s zest for life, love, people, and the Lord. With all of the experiences that Sam has had, I believe that they will be even bigger and better together than they have been apart. So many people believe they have to marry to find completeness; I think it is incredible that Jenna and Sam are both complete in the Lord, and it will be a wonderful thing to watch what He has in store for their lives as they grow together in Him. Let the celebrations and blessings begin!

Congratulations to the happy couple and well done for raising a family with a zest for life, a life that doesn’t involve things but enjoying the richness of all the world has to offer and relationships in community – even if that community is spread out over the world.
